Response to the House of Lords Built Environment Committee Call for Evidence on the New Towns

The Built Environment Committee of the House of Lords is exploring various aspects of the proposed New Towns.  They are currently calling for evidence relating to ‘Building Communities’.   You can read more about it and how to submit here.  The deadline is December 1.

The committee is not questioning the choice of sites and most of the questions are not relevant to our campaign.  However, we took the opportunity to respond to Question 1, which asks about the barriers to good placemaking, to explain why Enfield’s Green Belt should be excluded.  We also sent them the evidence documents that had been prepared for the Local Plan Examination.  Our response follows.
